For thirteen years I have been working on my book. It started with me taking notes after each one of my Feng Shui consultations over the years and then sharing some of these client anecdotes (with names and identifying characteristics changed) during my Feng Shui lectures. People loved these stories. Their responses were overwhelming! Feedback on the course review surveys would mention the client anecdotes as their favorite part. Some lined up after the lecture was over to tell me that that was the highlight for them or what they found the most interesting. It helped them wrap their brains around this esoteric subject and relate to it in ways that they deeply connected with.
As the years passed, I started putting the stories together with my own personal narrative weaved through out in a manuscript. And then some shifts in my own approach to consulting began to occur as trends, concerns and priorities in the world around me unfolded. I adapted my own Feng Shui approach in my consultations that was more inclusive to all areas of my clients life and their specific needs. I found that my specialty became tuning into all areas of their life; emotional, physical and spiritual. Although they may have initially called me in to talk about furniture placement and paint colors, they had no idea that they’d get those answers and much, much more as they began to make the deeper connections between their homes and themselves and experience profound changes in their lives.
Eventually, my manuscript evolved by including ground breaking concepts, fresh ways to tackle your challenges and hundreds of compelling case studies. I began to teach these innovative concepts to interior designers and architects at Pratt, consult for developers and write some articles for Spirituality and Health. I learned to shed some of my ancient teachings that no longer served me, embrace the tried and true ones that did, update the ones that needed it and even created my own brand new Mind/Body/Spirit/Home concepts based on my own experience and research.
Now, after all these years, I can proudly say that my book, The Holistic Home has found its own home with my publisher, Helios and is set for publication in the Fall of 2015. I could not be happier. Now the fun really begins…
